Our Story

Anyone looking for modest formal wear knows the agony of endless searching for a gown that doesn’t exist; then selecting the best of the worst and easiest to “fix”. The tiring searches for a matching fabric and finally if required; the dreaded dress check. What was meant to be a fun, exciting time turns out to be a stressful nightmare. Usually, not exactly what you were dreaming of or worse yet a gown that brings reproach on the name of Christ.

Therefore, with the desire to offer bridal and formal gowns that allow young ladies to bring honor to the Lord Jesus Christ, while still looking fashionable and stylish, we began Simply Elegant in June 2004.
Originally we began opening by appointment only. When we realized our customer base was much larger than we originally realized, we moved to a store front location in a small community in north Knoxville, TN. Each year has grown with customers driving 2 hours -6 hours weekly. It’s been such a blessing to be a blessing to our wonderful customers.

In the spring of 2007, we had the opportunity to purchase a tuxedo business in SC. The heart of where we’d been praying about, giving us the opportunity to include the formals in NC store and bridal in the SC store.

The SC store opened with all appointments booked a week in advance, walk-in brides, and phone calls all day. Plus, everyone ordered that day! What a blessing this has been to see brides so excited to find something modest for such a special day…the most important day to be modest.

What to Expect

Twice a year I travel to bridal markets in Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City in search of the latest styles featuring quality construction, exquisite embroidery and beading with you in mind. When you arrive at Simply Elegant, not only will you find unique and exclusive gowns not available in other bridal salons, but you’ll meet a professional bridal consultant who is dedicated to helping you find your perfect gown for your momentous day. We are dedicated to making this part of your wedding planning the most memorable and enjoyable by giving you our personal attention every step of the way, from your consultation to your gown preservation.

Because this is the most important shopping day of your life, you should have an extraordinary experience with your closest family and friends. After 7 years in the bridal business we have found the best way to achieve this experience is through a private consultation.

Your gown consultation will include:
A Private Bridal Room for You and Your Guests
        A Silhouette Analysis
        A Style Evaluation
       Accurate Measurements
        Verify Your Bra Size
       Shape Wear Evaluation
        Finishing Touch Accessories
Slide Show Display of Your Top Gown Choices
Skype Viewing for Out of Town Guests

In preparation for your consultation you will want to:
Carefully select 2-3 close family or friends, over the age of 12, to help you analyze your gown choices. Children under 12 are not allowed in the bridal area during appointments. Guests unable to come may wish to join us via Skype or picture texting.
Your consultant will be dressing you so you will want to shower and shave before coming.
Fresh make up and a nice hair style will help you visualize your wedding day look.
Bring items you hope to wear on your wedding day so you can see if they will work with your gown choice. (crinoline, veil, shoes, jewelry etc., any accessories purchased with your gown are 25% off)
Photographs will be, taken by your consultant, of your top gown choices to view on a slide show. This method has proven very helpful in making a final choice. At the end of your consultation you may photograph your choice to preserve the memory of this wonderful day. Check your batteries and memory card before leaving.
Complete the Preliminary Gown Consultation form and email it back so your consultant can review it and be better prepared to assist you.
We will provide long line bras and crinolines for try on with the gowns.
If you choose to wait to purchase your gown a $25 consultation fee will be required; which will be applied to any future purchase.
We look forward to seeing you and your guests!
Happy Planning,
